Herno Introduces a 'Total Look'
For 75 years, Herno has been known for technical innovation and performance outerwear. And for good reason: the family-owned brand founded in 1948 on the windswept shores of Lake Maggiore in northern Italy gets winter. Herno’s founders, Giuseppe Marenzi and Alessandra Diana, prized form and functionality, applying castor oil to cotton raincoats to improve their water repellency. The house has since become known for its chic and cozy cashmere puffers.
But a woman can’t dress herself in coats and jackets alone. So this spring, Herno is making its first foray into ready-to-wear with the launch of Herno Lifestyle Look, a range of elevated base layers like jacquard knits, cotton T-shirts with patchwork prints or embroidered logos, and oversize shirts in double-faced wool. There are also sporty bottoms including satin track pants and lightweight nylon maxi skirts with grosgrain drawstrings. Of course, everything pairs perfectly with the label’s luxe outerwear.
