DIOR TEARS: LUXURY SNEAKERS I’D ACTUALLY WEAR
Ever since Tremaine Emory and Kim Jones took to Cairo's Grand Egyptian Museum, of all places, late last year to present their Dior Tears capsule, the world of fashion has been waiting with bated breath ahead of the pair’s full-scale follow-up collection.
Slated for Fall 2023 (a date which would suggest an imminent release), the next instalment of Dior Tears is expected to be a much for expansive delivery of luxury streetwear hybrids with a slew of opulent footwear thrown into the mix.
I’m not intending to divide the room here, but: luxury sneakers are, in most cases, very bad. It’s always been a classic case of having all the tools to create something great but failing miserably through lack of any actual streetwear know-how.
However, with Supreme’s Tremaine Emory on-board, Dior Tears has an icon and, as such, are making major moves.
The most recent sneaker teasers, posted by Dior men’s footwear designer Thibo Denis, are proof. A pair of limited-edition chunky-laced brown B33s, which come equipped with a chunky white sole beneath a textured and plush-looking upper, follow a similar blue pair shared by Denis back in March. They are, to be frank, delicious.
It isn’t just sneakers that are impressing either. Dior Tears FW23 will also include a selection of opulent mules, that’s again after Denis shared an in-hand look at two backless slip-ons — one crafted with a brown suede, the other of denim with Denim Tears' Cotton Wreath motif — both of which will too elevate anyone’s summer rotation.
Expectations for Dior Tears FW23 are high, which is to be expected when Jones and Emory are in cahoots. The footwear though? It’s already delivering. The only thing now is to try and actually get a pair. That’s the real task.
