GREAT OUTFITS IN FASHION HISTORY: KYLIE MINOGUE'S RED LACE-UP MINI DRESS
There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In 'Great Outfits in Fashion History,' Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
For the most part, the world views Britney Spears as the Princess of Pop. In Australia, however, another artist holds court with the title: Kylie Minogue.
With the release of her 2001 track "Can't Get You Out Of My Head," a global fascination with Minogue's discography and celebrity began. The year after this release was arguably Minogue's career peak, cementing the singer as an iconic pop star for life. Shortly after her performance of the hit record at the 2002 Brit Awards, which began with her laying on an ejected CD on stage, Minogue was suddenly appearing at every awards show, talk show and red carpet.
The following month, Minogue performed at the World Music Awards in Monaco, wearing a look that stands the test of time: a red satin corseted mini dress paired with thigh-high black leather boots. The dress, which is seemingly custom Dolce & Gabanna (it was a long time ago, we forgive her), featured black laces tied up one side to cinch the silhouette.
Head-to-toe, this look could still easily be worn on an night out or even on a world stage today. Scroll below for a variety of picks to embody Minogue's Y2K style.
