RGBxBetty Boop collection launches at Fred Segal
The RGB x Betty Boop collection in cooperation with Fred Segal has been launched by Fleischer Studios, leading branding-licensing agency Global Icons, and RBG designer Antione Joyner.
The Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand Fred Segal has been offering the limited-edition collection since December 2022, which includes T-Shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and sweatpants in a price range between 100 dollars and 250 dollars.
Being known for its innovative collaborations, Fleischer Studios is debuting its Betty of the People initiative. The initiative aims to make Betty Boop more accessible to a wider range of communities worldwide, the company said.
By creating designs in partnership with diverse brands, equity, unity, and inclusion is being expressed. Commenting on the initiative, Mark Fleischer, chairman and CEO of Fleischer Studios stated that “every item we offer will shine with the invitation to embrace acceptance, respect, love, and courage, not to mention sheer fun”.
Betty Boop was first introduced in 1930 and created by Mark Fleischer for his animated “talkies” that were produced by Fleischer Studios for Paramount Studios. Betty quickly evolved and became a worldwide-known character that appeared in movies, tv shows, and commercials. The collaboration with Antione Joyner, “visionary in the world of style and streetwear”, as Fleischer describes him, will strengthen the image and popularity of Betty Boop in cultures worldwide, he said.
Joyner sees Betty Boop as a “symbol of empowerment, confidence, and self-expression”, so he wanted to keep the character’s iconic style and make it wearable by anyone.
The collection is available in-store and online.
