Rihanna Takes Us Back to the 2000s With an It-Bag and Moon Boots

Rihanna put a Y2K-minded spin on rainy day style onTuesday. While running errands around Los Angeles, the pregnant singer wore a black floor-length puffer coat (which feels reminiscent of the lipstick-red Alaïa one she donned during her knockout Super Bowl performance), a slouchy gray fleece sweatshirt, and roomy light wash jeans. The accessories were the real stars of the look, including an enviable array of early aughts It items. From RiRi’s cobalt pair of Gucci Vault x Moon Boots to her white-trimmed shield sunglasses to her dalmatian Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami bag circa 2003 (procured from Vintage by Misty), it’s clear the star had Y2K on the brain. 

The outfit stands in contrast to the more sleek, bump-baring maternity looks Rihanna has worn since revealing her pregnancy last month during the Super Bowl halftime show. One standout: her Oscars Alaïa gown, which featured a sheer jersey turtleneck worn underneath a leather band dress. More casual, off-duty style moments have come through RiRi wearing a cropped striped polo paired with baggy jeans and Timberland boots. 

With this more casual look (well, Rihanna’s pop star version of casual), the superstar is, once again, subtly showcasing that her maternity fashion can be, quite frankly, whatever she wants. It includes low-slung gowns and baggy jeans. If anyone can nail both ends of the spectrum with supreme confidence, it’s surely Rihanna.
