BLACKPINK SHUTS DOWN COACHELLA WEEKEND ONE WITH THEIR PERFORMANCE — AND THEIR LOOKS
On Saturday, Blackpink returned to Coachella, where they first made history in 2019 as the first K-pop girl group play a U.S. music festival — only this time, they returned as headliners, playing the main stage in another history-making moment.
In typical Blackpink fashion, the show-stopping performance included lots of dramatic elements, including pink fireworks, dazzling visuals and, of course, custom looks. Each member wore three outfits total on stage, and while they all have their own prestigious luxury fashion contracts (Jennie with Chanel, Rosé with Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co., Jisoo with Dior and Cartier, Lisa with Celine and Bulgari), they went for a mix of brands for their on-stage wardrobe.
First, there were coordinated-but-individual black and pink ensembles by Dolce & Gabbana, which reflected each member's off-stage style.
Jisoo — who typically embraces more feminine looks — looked pretty in ruffles and rosettes, while Jennie appeared tougher in a cropped leather jacket paired with a pink corset. Lisa went for a rockstar-inspired, crystal-embellished long-sleeve bolero and lace-up shorts, as Rosé kept it elegant in a belted black romper. Strips of flowing pink chiffon were attached to each member's hips, amping up the drama as they moved on stage.
For their solo performances, the members and their styling team opted for a range of brands, big and small.
Jennie wore a custom ballet-inspired look by the Korean brand Denicheur, featuring a pearl-encrusted crop top and tutu mini skirt over white shorts for her performance of "You and Me". Jisoo referenced her bop of a single, "Flower," with her red David Koma dress, embellished with plastic florals. Rosé stunned in a metallic Paco Rabanne dress and Ellie Mae jacket (accessories with Tiffany & Co. jewels) for her staging of "On the Ground". Lisa, meanwhile, donned a laser-cut body suit from Yueqi Qi over a Mugler bodysuit for "Money".
The group then changed into their final looks of the evening, unified in a black and silver theme.
Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa all wore custom Grace Elwood (Jisoo and Lisa in long-sleeved crop tops with beaded embellishments, Rosé in a cutout cropped tank with shorts and a fringe belt), while Jennie wore Rui's signature cut-out arm sleeve and bodysuit.
